Marvel Rivals is getting its first Season 1 character next week – Mister Fantastic. The gameplay trailer just dropped, showing Mister Fantastic’s gameplay in Marvel Rivals. He’s pretty different from other Duelists, starting with his 350 HP pool instead of the usual 250. Instead of guns or energy blasts, he uses his stretching powers to punch enemies from range and control the battlefield.
The trailer gives us a good look at his basic attacks, a crowd control ability that lets him grab two enemies at once, and an interesting defensive move that lets him inflate.
If you’re thinking about picking him up when he launches on January 10, here’s a detailed breakdown of everything we know about Mister Fantastic’s abilities and how they might work together in actual matches.
Mister Fanastic’s basic attacks set him apart right away – he can punch enemies from a distance by stretching his arms. This means you don’t have to worry about ammo or cooldowns like Iron Man or Psylocke do. You can just reach out and hit people.
His grab ability is where things get interesting. You can pick up two enemies at once and slam them together. Think about the possibilities here – you could grab a support and their DPS, smash them into each other, and create space for your team to move in. Or you could use it to pull enemies away from the objective.
The Muscle Inflation ability works kind of like Hulk’s power-up moves. Reed makes himself bigger, and while he’s in this state, he can take more hits. The gameplay footage shows him using this to wade into fights and soak up damage while still throwing out attacks. It looks like a good way to contest points or survive when multiple enemies focus on you.
His ultimate is pretty straightforward but effective. Reed jumps into the air and comes down with multiple slam attacks, similar to what Winter Soldier does. The difference is that Reed seems to cover more ground with his slams. This could be great for clearing enemies off objectives or forcing them to split up during team fights.

Here’s something important – Reed has 350 HP, which is 100 more than other Duelists who usually sit at 250. This isn’t just a small buff – it’s a significant change that affects how you can play him.
Having 350 HP means you can be more aggressive than other Duelists. You could stretch in, grab some enemies, take some hits, and still have enough health to get out. When you combine this with Muscle Inflation, you’ve got a Duelist who can actually survive in the middle of fights instead of having to play around the edges.
Mister Fantastic joins Marvel Rivals when Season 1: Eternal Night Falls starts on January 10 at 1 AM PST (4 AM EDT). He’s launching alongside Sue Storm, and they’re both getting launch skins – Reed is getting “The Maker” skin while Sue Storm comes with her own unique Malice cosmetic. The rest of the Fantastic Four – Human Torch and The Thing – will show up about six weeks later.
The new season also adds some maps to try him out on. You’ll get to stretch around the Sanctum Sanctorum and the Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown. There’s also a new mode called Doom Match where 8-12 players fight in different teams and only the top half wins.
