Marvel Rivals is about to kick off its first official season after wrapping up its initial “Season Zero” period. The new season, titled “Eternal Night Falls,” brings major additions to the game, including the complete Fantastic Four roster and a vampire-filled New York City.
Here’s what you need to know about when you can play and what’s coming in Marvel Rivals Season 1.
Marvel Rivals Season 1 launches on Friday, January 10, 2025. For players in US, you can start playing at:
This means you can jump into the new content first thing Friday morning if you’re on the east coast, or very early morning if you’re out west.
The trailer for the new season takes place in a dark version of New York City. Doctor Strange is trapped in something called the Entangled Astral Plane, and his spell book, the Darkhold, has been scattered around. Dracula and Doctor Doom have teamed up to mess with the moon’s orbit, creating an endless night that lets vampires run wild through the city.
With Dracula showing up as the main bad guy, it seems pretty likely that Blade will join the game at some point. He’s already been found in datamined game files, but there’s no official word on when he might arrive.
It would make sense for him to show up during a vampire-themed season, but fitting him in alongside the Fantastic Four might be tricky.
The Fantastic Four shows up in the trailer, bringing their scientific approach to fight against the supernatural darkness. You’ve got all four members joining Marvel Rivals:
We don’t know yet exactly how these characters will play or if they’re all coming at once. Some leaks suggest they might release two characters at launch and two more mid-season, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
Between now and Friday’s launch, expect to see more detailed information about how the Fantastic Four plays and what other changes are coming to the game. The developers usually put out character showcase videos and blog posts about major updates before they go live.
Keep in mind that even though Season 1 is adding a story about vampires taking over New York, Marvel Rivals is still mainly focused on its competitive gameplay rather than narrative elements. The story serves more as a backdrop for the new content rather than something you’ll play through like a campaign.
