Finding a ghost dog in Marvel Rivals might sound strange, but it’s actually pretty simple once you know where to look. Bats, the spectral basset hound, is waiting to have a chat with specific heroes in the Sanctum Sanctorum, and talking to him unlocks a special achievement.
Here’s everything you need to know about finding Bats in Marvel Rivals and getting your achievement points.
The “A Hounding Conversation” achievement is part of Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls. To complete it, you need to have one conversation with Bats the Ghost Dog.
Once you succeed, you’ll unlock your achievement. You don’t even need to finish the match to keep your progress – as soon as you’ve had a chat with Bats, you can leave the game and claim your reward.
Getting to Bats requires a bit of setup. First, you’ll need to access the Sanctum Sanctorum map, which you can do in two ways:
Once you’re on the map, head to the foyer area. Look for the room in the center with a round aisle – that’s where Bats spends his time floating around. Sometimes he takes breaks and lies down, but he never leaves this room.
Here’s the important part: only certain characters can talk to Bats. Currently, these characters are:
Pick one of these characters before entering the map. There’s no interaction button to press – just get close to Bats, and the conversation will start automatically. If you’re having trouble telling whether Bats is talking to you, turn on subtitles in the audio settings menu.
Bats isn’t just any random ghost dog – he has quite a history in Marvel lore. Originally introduced in the Doctor Strange comics, Bats was Doctor Strange’s pet basset hound.
Strange cast a spell on him that gave him the ability to speak, making him more than just an ordinary companion. Unfortunately, after an encounter with Loki, Bats passed away, but he stuck around as a ghost, continuing to roam the halls of the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Finding and talking to Bats is a fun side quest in Marvel Rivals that rewards you with achievement points. Remember to use one of the compatible characters, and don’t worry if the conversation doesn’t trigger immediately – sometimes it takes a moment, especially with Squirrel Girl, Jeff, and Spider-Man.
