Units in Marvel Rivals are the game’s main currency for buying cosmetics and skins from the in-game store. Right now, a premium skin like the Malice bundle for Invisible Woman costs 1,600 units, while individual skins typically run around 1,400 units.

This might seem steep if you’re trying to avoid spending real money, but there are actually several ways to earn units completely free.

In this guide, I’ll walk through every available method to earn free units in Marvel Rivals Season 1.

Before we dive into the details of how to earn each reward, let’s look at all the free units you can earn in Marvel Rivals Season 1. Currently, you can earn up to 3,300 free units through various activities and challenges. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Chronoverse Saga Achievements: 400 Units
  • Heroic Journey: 1,500 Units
  • Community Rewards: 500 Units
  • Battle Pass Free Track: 600 Units
  • Midnight Features Event: 300 Units

Now, let’s go through each method in detail to help you earn every available unit.

Chronoverse Saga Achievements

The first place you’ll want to look is your achievements tab. You can find this by clicking your profile in the top right corner. There are four different achievement sets, but the real treasure is in the Chronoverse Saga section.

Click the gift icon in the top right of this section to find two separate 200-unit rewards that were recently added for Season 1. This will give you a total of 400 free Units for completing various quests which include different stuff like triggering portals or talking to Bats.

Heroic Journey

The Heroic Journey is where you’ll earn most of your units, though it takes some time to complete. This section includes hero-specific challenges for every character in the game.

The total reward here is 1,500 units and you can check this page next to Chronoverse Saga Achievements in your Achievements tab as well.

Community Rewards

The settings menu holds some hidden treasures in the Community section. Here’s what you can get:

  • Connect your Discord account to the game by joining the official Marvel Rivals server and verifying your account for an easy 100 units.
  • The Hero Assembly event lets you share your assembly code with friends. When a friend uses your code and reaches level 10, you’ll receive 300 units.
  • Sign up for the NGP (NetEase Gamer Premium) newsletter for another quick 100 units. Don’t worry – it’s just a simple email signup.

This will give you a total of 500 units and to get to this page all you need to do is go to your main Marvel Rivals homepage and press ESC. You will notice an option “Community”.

Battle Pass Free Units

If you don’t want to spend money on the premium battle pass, Marvel Rivals still offers a decent amount of units through the free track of Season 1’s “Eternal Night Falls” battle pass. As you progress through season 1 Battle Pass you will be able to acquire 300 free units and 300 Lattice which can be converted into Units at a 1:1 ratio.

With the battle pass running from January 10, 2025, to April 11, 2026, you have plenty of time to earn these 600 total free units by completing the battle pass tiers.

Seasonal Event: Midnight Features

The current seasonal event in Marvel Rivals is called Midnight Features, running until February 7, 2025. This event offers multiple ways to earn units through five different investigations, with each one giving you 60 units for completion.

Beyond the 300 units, completing all investigations will reward you with the Thor Reborn from Ragnarok skin, along with several gallery cards for the Eternal Night Fall Comics collection.

Marvel Rivals is pretty generous with its currency if you know where to look. These rewards will take some time to collect, but they’re worth the effort if you’re interested in getting premium cosmetics without spending real money. As the game adds new heroes and seasons, we’ll likely see even more opportunities to earn free Marvel Rivals units, so keep checking back for updates.
