The Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls trailer just dropped, and it’s bringing a pretty big change to the game’s story. If you’ve been playing since Season 0, you’re about to see New York City get a lot darker – literally. Dracula’s shown up as the main villain, and he’s not just making a quick cameo.
The trailer shows him working with Doctor Doom to turn New York into a playground for vampires, which is quite different from the usual superhero battles you’ve been seeing so far.
Marvel’s take on Dracula is actually pretty interesting. Sure, he’s the same Vlad Tepes from history books who inspired all those vampire stories, but in Marvel’s world, he’s got a lot more going on. He started out as a regular human ruler back in the 1400s, dealing with politics and running Wallachia (that’s in Romania, by the way). Things took a turn when he got turned into a vampire, and he’s been causing problems ever since.
In the comics, Dracula isn’t just some random vampire – he’s basically the vampire king. He’s got super strength that lets him lift about 4 tons, can control the weather (though it really tires him out), and can turn into different animals like bats and wolves.
He’s also got this thing where he can control other vampires and even regular people just by looking them in the eye. The only things that really give him trouble are the usual vampire stuff: sunlight, wooden stakes, and religious symbols.
What makes him really dangerous is his brain, not just his powers. He’s been around for centuries, knows how to use magic, and is really good with a sword. Think of him as a supernatural crime boss who’s got both the muscle and the smarts to back up his plans. He’s gone toe-to-toe with everyone from the X-Men to Thor, and even when he loses, he usually finds a way to come back.
The Season 1 trailer shows that Doctor Strange is trapped in something called the Entangled Astral Plane, which is basically leaving Earth without its main magical protector. Dracula and Doctor Doom have seized this opportunity to mess with the moon’s orbit, creating an endless night over New York City.
You can see this playing out in the trailer – the city’s completely dark, and Dracula’s got his vampire army running loose on the streets. The Fantastic Four are trying their best to handle the situation, with the Thing moving buses to safety and the Invisible Woman protecting their headquarters with force fields.
Based on Marvel’s lore and what we’ve seen in the trailer, Dracula has several threatening abilities:
While nothing’s confirmed yet, you might want to keep an eye on the in-game comics that usually come with each season. These comics tend to fill in the story gaps and show what these characters are up to behind the scenes.
