The Shield Bubble has made its return to Fortnite in Chapter 6 Season 1 with the v33.20 update, just in time for the epic Godzilla crossover event. This utility item creates a large protective dome that blocks all projectiles and explosives while letting players move freely through it.
It was introduced back in Season X, the Shield Bubble has proven itself as one of the most versatile defensive tools in the game.
Shield Bubbles can be found through several methods across the Battle Royale island:
The item takes up an inventory slot and can be stacked up to 2 per slot. Due to its Rare (blue) rarity, you’ll need to search a few locations before finding one.
The Shield Bubble creates a protective dome that lasts for 30 seconds and has 400 health. When you find yourself under heavy fire, quickly dropping a Shield Bubble creates instant cover that can save your life. It’s particularly useful when you need to heal up or revive teammates in exposed areas.
One key thing to remember is that while the Shield Bubble blocks all projectiles from both directions, players can still walk right through it. This means you need to stay alert for enemies pushing through your bubble, even when you’re using it as cover. The base of the bubble can be destroyed by dealing damage to it, so try to protect the generator if possible.
The Shield Bubble will become especially valuable with the new Godzilla event in Chapter 6. When facing a player who has transformed into Godzilla, the Shield Bubble serves as a protection against the titan’s devastating Heat Ray attack.
You can use it to create safe spots for your team while targeting Godzilla’s weak points. The bubble also provides excellent cover while collecting Godzilla’s Fragments, which give you health and dash charges when consumed.
The recent unvaulting of the Rail Gun makes the Shield Bubble even more tactical. You can use the bubble as cover while charging up your Rail Gun shots against Godzilla or other players. The Shield Bubble is a great item that can be quite effective if you know how to use it.
