Having a good route decided when you see the Battle Bus path can severely help you climb ranks faster in Fortnite. During my games, I’ve noticed most players either drop hot and chase fights or play it slow and steady. Both work fine – it’s just about picking the right spots and knowing where to go next.
Here’s my detailed breakdown of the best farming routes in Chapter 6 Season 1 that I usually follow in my games to rank up fast in Fortnite.
If you love early action and trust your combat skills, I recommend working with the battle bus path. Drop at the first major POI along the bus route – you’ll typically find 7-9 other players with the same idea. This gives you immediate opportunities for early eliminations and quick access to their loot.
The key to making this aggressive route work is staying ahead of zone movements. Once you’ve cleared out your landing spot, check the first zone circle. If you’re already centered, hold that position and watch for players rotating in. If you’re outside, move to the edge of the zone closest to your position. Through my matches, I’ve found this puts you in perfect position to catch players making late rotations while keeping you safe from back attacks.
The beauty of this aggressive route is its flexibility – you’re always where the action is, and eliminations become your primary source of loot. Keep in mind that this strategy requires solid aim and quick decision-making since you’ll regularly face multiple opponents in rapid succession.
For a more strategic approach that still guarantees good fights, I prefer landing away from the bus path as it offers more control over your early game. My standout route starts at Whiffy Wharfs – a location that perfectly balances loot quality with lower player traffic. Despite being one of the larger POIs, I rarely see more than 3-4 players dropping there, making it perfect for getting geared up without immediate pressure.
From Whiffy Wharfs, I rotate to Flooded Frogs. This POI has a hidden advantage that I love using – an extensive tunnel system that many players overlook. These tunnels offer both extra loot and strategic escape routes. Just make sure to farm materials as you move between locations – I’ve found the buildings here offer plenty of wood and metal.
The next stop in my route is Magic Mosses, specifically targeting the secret cave. This underground area consistently spawns high-tier loot and since not a lot of players know about it – you are kinda safe in there.
I use a solid backup route if the battle bus path makes Whiffy Wharfs too hot. Start at the unnamed football stadium near Nightshift Forest. This spot offers decent loot but it’s quite safe. From there, move into Nightshift Forest itself to access the mythic vault. The mythic vault might just be one of the best areas to loot in this season.
A third option that I turn to, particularly when both previous routes are on the path of Battle Bus is going to the southeasternmost island on the map. This spot regularly spawns the Typhoon Blade, and I enjoy using it along with a Shotgun. After securing the blade, rotate to Masked Meadows to hire an NPC companion. In duo matches, I continue to Canyon for a second NPC hire – the medic specialist.
Each of these routes offers a balance of safety and action, letting you choose based on the bus path and your preferred playstyle. The key is committing to your chosen route and learning the small details – chest spawns, material sources, and common player rotations through each area.
Remember, these routes aren’t set in stone. The beauty of Fortnite is adapting to each match’s unique circumstances. Use these paths as a foundation, but don’t be afraid to adjust based on zone pulls, player distributions, and the loot you find along the way. From my experience, the best players are those who can adapt their routes while maintaining their core strategy
