Want to become Godzilla in Fortnite? You’re not alone. Since the January 2025 update brought this massive beast to the battle royale, players have been racing to find those Godzilla portals that transform them into the King of Monsters.
After playing several matches, I found a pattern where these Godzilla portals in Fortnite can appear and your chances of seeing one in your match.
Let’s start with something important: Godzilla portals don’t show up in every match. Based on current data, there’s a 40% chance of a portal appearing in any given game. When a portal is set to spawn, it will appear around 1-2 minutes after the match starts. You’ll get a notification on your screen when it spawns, and its location will be marked on your navigation bar.
The portal system in Fortnite works in a pretty straightforward way – in matches where Godzilla is set to appear, the game randomly picks one of these seven locations to spawn the portal:
The southeast region of the map has become the prime spot for Godzilla portal hunters, as it offers access to four potential portal spawn locations. This positioning gives you a significant advantage in the race to become Godzilla. Your best approach is to land in this region and use the first couple of minutes to gather supplies and find a vehicle. When the portal spawns, you’ll see a notification on your screen and its location will appear on your navigation bar – that’s when you make your move.
Alternatively, landing in the center of the map can also be effective, as it gives you decent access to all possible spawn locations. Just remember that having a vehicle is crucial – it could mean the difference between reaching the portal first or watching someone else become Godzilla.
Remember that even if you don’t find the portal or someone beats you to it, these locations are all well-stocked with loot. This means you’re not wasting your time by landing at these spots – you can always gear up and either take on Godzilla or focus on a regular victory royale.
