Sprites are new companions in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 that can help turn difficult situations in your favor. Each type gives you different tactical options, from healing mid-fight to making quick escapes. Let’s go through everything you need to understand about Sprites in Fortnite along with all Sprite Shrine locations.
Note: We will update this article with new Sprite Shrine locations if we find any. This article was last updated on December 3, 2024.
Water Sprites | Earth Sprites | Air Sprites |
You’ll come across Sprites naturally while moving around the map – they’re small creatures that float around in the open. But if you want a more reliable way to find them, look for tall white beams of light reaching into the sky. These mark Sprite Shrines, and interacting with one will show you exactly where nearby Sprites are hiding.
Once a shrine reveals them, Sprites show up as orange markers in your surroundings (but not on your map). Water Sprites get blue icons, while Air Sprites show up as yellow ones. Just walk up to any Sprite and press your interaction button to catch it.
The Sprite takes one inventory slot and stays with you until you use it. Later, you can take it to any shrine for rewards – after a few seconds wait, you’ll get items and a special Boon that matches the Sprite’s element.
Water Sprites are your go-to choice for healing during and after fights especially if you are fighting the bosses in Fortnite CS61. Throwing one down creates a healing fountain that immediately gives you 30 health or shield, depending on what you’re missing.
Standing in the fountain’s area continues healing you at 2 points every second. The really useful part is that you can pick up the same Water Sprite after about 20 seconds and use it again.
If you’re low on healing items, keeping a Water Sprite in your inventory can save you in tough spots.
Earth Sprites work completely differently from the others. Instead of moving around, they stay in fixed spots and look like moss-covered tree faces. They’re rare to find, and even after playing so many games we just found one till now. They don’t spawn at exact spots so you will have to go around and find them!
These Sprites act as weapon traders. The trading system is straightforward – give them any weapon and they’ll give you back a random weapon of higher rarity. For example, handing over an Epic (purple) weapon typically gets you a Legendary (gold) one in return. While there’s no guarantee about which specific weapon you’ll get, it’s a good way to upgrade your loadout if you’re not happy with what you have.
Air Sprites focus entirely on mobility. When you throw one down, it creates a wind vortex that launches you high into the air. It works just like a Launch Pad – you can deploy your glider after the launch and fly to wherever you need to go. This makes them perfect for escaping bad situations or repositioning during fights, or maybe going to the best spots of this chapter.
Look for Air Sprites in the same places as Water Sprites, especially in forested areas like Nightshift Forest and Magic Mosses. These Sprites spawn nearly everywhere so you don’t really have to worry much about the spots.. Having an Air Sprite ready can save you from storm damage or help you get the high ground quickly.
Sprite Shrines are marked by those tall white light beams mentioned earlier. Each shrine location comes with two regular chests nearby, making them worth visiting even if you’re not specifically looking for Sprites. When you interact with a shrine, it reveals all Water Sprites (blue icons) and Air Sprites (yellow icons) in the surrounding area.
The real value comes from returning Sprites to these shrines. After a few seconds of interaction, you’ll get two rewards: a random Boon (these are special effects like faster reloading or increased healing in water) and an Epic weapon. The shrine then releases two new Sprites that you can catch right away. You can use any shrine for returns – it doesn’t have to be the one where you found the Sprite.
Sprite Shrines are spread across the map. The central and eastern parts of the map have more shrines than other areas.
Here is a map for your ease of all the Sprite Shrine locations we have been able to find till now:
The handy thing is that once you’ve picked up any Sprite, your map automatically shows the nearest shrine location. This makes it much easier to plan your route if you want to trade in a Sprite for rewards.
Sprites are a solid addition to your tactical options in Chapter 6. They’re not going to win matches on their own, but using them smartly can give you advantages in specific situations. Try out each type to see how they fit your playstyle – maybe you’ll prefer having emergency healing from Water Sprites, quick escape options with Air Sprites, or the chance to upgrade weapons with Earth Sprites.
