Shogun X is one of the toughest boss fights introduced in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1. Fighting this boss feels like playing Elden Ring within Fortnite. He isn’t the only boss in Chapter 6 Season 1 – you can also challenge The Night Rose at her fixed location in Demon’s Dojo.
But for now, let’s focus on tracking down and defeating Shogun X. This guide will walk you through finding Shogun X, defeating him in both phases and claiming his powerful mythic loot.
Before you start hunting down Shogun X, you’ll need to locate him on your map. Open your map and look for the Oni mask icon – this marks Shogun X’s current location. Unlike other bosses, Shogun X doesn’t stay in one place. He moves around the map, and you’ll notice his icon changing position after each circle closes. This cat-and-mouse game continues until the fourth circle when he makes his final stand on the floating island.
When you find him, get ready for a challenging fight. Shogun X has several powerful attacks you need to watch out for:
In the first phase, getting Shogun X down to about 30% health will cause him to teleport away. Don’t worry – this is normal. After defeating him in this phase, he’ll drop a random mythic weapon/ It’s worth noting that the mythic drop isn’t guaranteed to be any specific weapon – you might get anything from shotguns to SMGs from this first encounter. This randomness means you’ll need to adapt your strategy based on whatever weapon you receive.
The final showdown with Shogun X happens when the fourth storm circle appears. He’ll spawn on a floating island in the sky, marked on your map with his mask icon. To reach him, look for the Air Sprite underneath the island that will help you float up to the battle arena.
The fight mechanics remain the same as the first phase, but you’ll need to be extra careful about positioning since falling off the floating island means certain death. Use the structures on the island as cover while you chip away at his health.
Shogun X Medallion | Shogun X Fire Oni Mask | Typhoon Blade |
Defeating Shogun X in his final form rewards you with his medallion, which might be one of the most powerful items in the game. It grants you infinite stamina and, even better, makes you invisible while sprinting. This ability to pop in and out of invisibility just by running gives you a massive advantage in both combat and stealth situations.
Damage | Fire Rate | Structure Damage | Magazine Size | Cooldown | DPS |
30 | 1.6 | 50 | 100 | 7s | 48 |
The Mythic Typhoon Blade is another excellent reward for defeating Shogun X. This powerful sword deals 30 damage per hit in a rapid five-hit combo, with the final strike dealing 50 damage. You can also perform special moves like the Cyclone Slash (90 damage) and Falling Strike (70 damage). The blade has 100 durability points, which only decrease when hitting enemies or structures.
Damage | Fire Rate | Magazine Size | Ammo Reserve | Reload Time | DPS |
100 | 1 | 2 | 16 | 3.5s | 100 |
The final piece of loot is Shogun X’s Fire Oni Mask, a mythic variant that shoots tracking explosive masks at your enemies. Each mask deals 100 damage on impact, and you get two charges with a total of 16 ammo. The reload time is just under 3 seconds, making it a powerful tool for pressuring opponents.
Taking down Shogun X is challenging but mastering his attack patterns and claiming his powerful loot can give you a significant advantage in securing that Victory Royale.
