Marvel Rivals’ progression system offers various ways to showcase your mastery of different heroes, but none quite as prestigious as Lord Icons. These special avatars represent the highest level of dedication to a character and are immediately noticeable in matches.
While the game offers plenty of cosmetic rewards through events and the store, Lord Icons stand apart as they can only be earned through genuine skill and time investment.
Unlike limited-time rewards from events like the recent Midnight Event, these icons are permanently available for any player willing to put in the effort to master their favorite heroes. Let me explain what Lord icons are and how you can get them in Marvel Rivals.
Lord Icons are special profile pictures you can earn for your heroes in Marvel Rivals. Think of them as fancy versions of the regular hero icons you see on the scoreboard.
When you have a Lord Icon equipped, it replaces the normal picture of your hero with a more detailed and cooler-looking version. While these icons don’t make you stronger in the game, they do let everyone know that you’ve spent a lot of time mastering that particular hero.
Getting a Lord Icon isn’t super complicated, but it does take time. You’ll need to reach the highest proficiency level (called “Lord”) with a hero to get their special icon. Here’s how the whole thing works:
First, you need to understand the proficiency levels. Every hero starts at the lowest level (Agent) and can progress through five levels total: Agent, Knight, Captain, Centurion, and finally, Lord. Each level gives you different rewards, with the Lord Icon being the final prize.
To level up your proficiency, you need to play matches with your chosen hero and complete specific tasks. These tasks are different depending on which type of hero you’re using.
For example, if you’re playing someone like Hawkeye who deals damage from far away, you’ll need to focus on dealing damage to enemies. If you’re playing a healer like Mantis, you’ll need to heal your teammates.
The best way to make progress is to stick with one hero you really enjoy playing. Don’t try to get Lord Icons for everyone at once – focus on mastering one character first. While you’re working on it, you’ll also get other nice rewards like special sprays and knockout animations.
With over 30 heroes in the roster, each requiring significant playtime to reach Lord proficiency, it’s best to start with heroes that match your preferred playstyle and gradually expand your collection from there.
