Marvel Rivals is at its best when you’re playing with friends. While jumping into matches with random teammates works fine, having a coordinated team makes a real difference in both casual and competitive play.
The game uses its own friend system that might feel different if you’re used to Steam or console friend lists, but don’t worry – it’s pretty straightforward once you know how it works.
In this guide, you’ll learn exactly how to add friends, set up a team, and start playing together in Marvel Rivals.
Before you can team up, you’ll need to add your friends to your friend list. The process is straightforward but might feel a bit different from Steam or Epic Games since Marvel Rivals uses its own social system. Here’s how to do it:
If you can’t find your friend through their username, you can use their UID instead. Every player has a unique UID that you can find in your Profile menu (next to the Friends tab) under the Overview section. Share your UID with friends through text or email, and they can use it to find and add you.
Sometimes you meet great players in matches (like me probably) and want to team up with them again. Marvel Rivals makes this easy through the Recent Players section in your Friends tab. You’ll find a list of the last few players you’ve played with. From there, you can send friend requests or even direct party invites to queue up together.
Once you’ve added friends, getting a team together is simple. Here’s how to start playing together:
Only the team leader (whoever created the team) can start the match. Other team members will see the Start button grayed out until the leader initiates the queue.
Getting your friends together in Marvel Rivals might take a few extra steps compared to other games, but it’s worth the effort. The game’s team mechanics really shine when you’re playing with people you know, and having a reliable squad makes both casual and competitive matches more enjoyable.
