Looking for Sgt. Winter in Fortnite’s latest Winterfest event? The holiday-themed NPC has set up camp at a snowy plane crash site, and you’ll need to find him to kick off this year’s Wintervestigation questline. Here’s exactly where to locate him and what to expect when you get there.
Sgt. Winter is hanging out near a crashed airplane in the snowy mountains. The easiest way to get to him is to look for the mountain east of Warrior’s Watch and south of Foxy Floodgate. If you’re having trouble spotting the location, just open your Quest menu and select the Case Assignment – the game will place a marker on your map pointing right to him.
The area is pretty easy to spot from the air since there’s plane wreckage scattered across the snow. You’ll see Sgt. Winter patrolling around the crash site, marked with a speech bubble icon above his head. We have attached a map above that pinpoints his exact location for you.
When you reach Sgt. Winter, you can interact with him in a few different ways. He’s not just there for the quest – he actually offers some pretty useful items for purchase:
To start the quest, look for the magnifying glass icon in his interaction menu. Click it, and he’ll tell you about the Wintervestigation and direct you to your next objective – finding Noir in Seaport City. Completing this initial conversation with him will reward you with 25,000 XP.
Since this is the first quest in the Wintervestigation chain, lots of players are dropping at Sgt. Winter’s location. Here’s how to increase your chances of reaching him safely:
If you want to play it safe, wait a few days for the initial rush to die down. But if you’re eager to complete the quest now, try landing directly on one of the nearby chests at the plane crash site. The wreckage provides decent cover, and you can use it to protect yourself while talking to Sgt. Winter.
Got some gold bars saved up? Consider buying his Holo Twister Rifle – it’s a solid weapon for defending yourself against other players in the area. Remember that many players dropping here might not have weapons yet, so getting to a chest first can give you a significant advantage.
The quest itself is simple – you just need to talk to him. But surviving long enough to have that conversation might take a bit of strategy during these busy first days of Winterfest.
