If you’ve been playing Fortnite for a while, you’ve probably heard about the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper skins. These skins haven’t been available since Chapter 1 Season 1 back in 2017, making them some of the rarest outfits in the game.
Now, after seven years, you finally have a chance to add them to your locker. The process isn’t complicated, but it does require some time investment. Let’s break down exactly what you need to do to get Renegade Raider & Aerial Assault Trooper OG Skins in Fortnite and what you can expect from them.
To get your hands on the Renegade Raider skin, you need to earn 1.5 million XP in Fortnite. This equals about 19 Battle Pass levels, so it’s going to take some time. Once you’ve hit that XP threshold, you can purchase the skin for 1,200 V-Bucks from the OG Season Shop tab.
The Renegade Raider skin features a female character in a brown aviator outfit with a distinctive skull face paint design. It’s known for its rugged, post-apocalyptic look that matches the original Fortnite aesthetic.
The skin comes with the classic look that made it famous, plus a new LEGO style variant for use in LEGO Fortnite. There’s also a Checkered style available, which adds a checkered pattern to the outfit.
If you want to complete the set, you can grab the Raider’s Revenge pickaxe too – it’s a menacing axe with spikes and an industrial design that perfectly matches the skin’s theme. You’ll need to earn even more XP – 2 million total – before you can buy it for 1,500 V-Bucks.

The Aerial Assault Trooper requires less XP to unlock than the Renegade Raider. You’ll need to earn 1 million XP, which is about 13.5 Battle Pass levels. After reaching this milestone, you can purchase the skin for 1,200 V-Bucks from the OG Season Shop.
The Aerial Assault Trooper features a male character in a military-style outfit with a red and black color scheme. He wears a helmet with goggles and a tactical vest, giving off a classic military pilot vibe. The skin comes with its original style and a LEGO variant for LEGO Fortnite mode.
To complete the military aviator look, there’s also a matching glider called Aerial Assault One – it has a simple but classic design with red accents that complement the skin perfectly. You can unlock this glider earlier in your XP journey – it only requires 500,000 XP and costs 500 V-Bucks.

You have until January 30, 2025 to earn the required XP and purchase these items. That’s 41 days to earn up to 2 million XP if you want to unlock everything. The XP count started on December 19, 2024, at 7 PM ET, and you can earn it through any Fortnite game mode that grants XP.
Epic Games is also planning something special for the original owners of these skins. If you purchased either skin back in 2017, you’ll receive an exclusive new style in early 2025. The same goes for the pickaxe and glider – original owners will get exclusive styles in spring 2025.
Getting these OG skins takes time but the process is straightforward. You play matches, complete quests, and earn XP like you normally would. Keep an eye on your progress in the OG Season Shop tab, and once you hit the XP requirements, you can purchase the items you want.
Don’t feel pressured to unlock everything at once – you have until January 30 to reach your goals. Whether you’re interested in the military style of the Aerial Assault Trooper or the post-apocalyptic look of the Renegade Raider, now’s your chance to own a piece of Fortnite history.
